Many women who have experienced fistula have lost everything: family, home, marriages, economic support and a sense of belonging.
Reintegrating recovered women into their communities requires empowering and equipping them to lead lives of dignity. Beginning with literacy and numeracy classes, vocational and life skills training, we support women in finding sustainable employment or starting their own businesses.
Each patient is provided with a skills training program that has been individually tailored to each woman. Training can range to farming skills, child-care qualifications, hospitality and catering or business skills training.
Women are empowered to become independent and self-sufficient through being provided with the support and resources to generate income for themselves and their families with start-up grants for businesses/micro enterprise. It enables them not only to survive but to thrive.
You can equip women with the opportunity to have a happy future full of family, belonging, the ability to earn a living, without enduring the indignity of a lifelong fistula injury.
